Amity Design

This website is intended to showcase my design projects that have taken place thus far in college, as well as independent projects I have completed through my own volition.

My Story

My journey to Industrial Design began later than most. I began college as a community college student at Georgia State Perimeter Campus, studying Business Administration. However, through hard work and determination, I made decisions that allowed greater doors to open. I transferred to Georgia Tech my sophomore year, where I then learned about Industrial Design. I slowly fell in love with the major over the course of the next year and made the decision to take a fifth year and pursue a career I had always dreamed of. Looking back on it now, Industrial design has been a part of my daily life for as long as I can remember. I just didn't know it had a name or that one could make a career out of something so interesting.

Design Values

My Values as a Designer:
- Innovation:
I find exploring new materials and manufacturing processes to be both interesting and necessary to the creation of industry-leading products.
- Collaboration: Having had experience in business administration, I can work very effectively with people outside of my discipline. I see value in every individual I work with, despite their background, passions, or other differentiating factors.
- Sustainability: As the Earth changes and regulations chase to meet the changing environment. I am committed to design work that honors sustainability at every phase of the design process, from sustainable material usage to consideration of the product disposal after use.
- Quality: In each design I create, ideation is accompanied by methodical research to arrive at better solutions.

Services

Product Design

Product design is my major concentration, focusing in on every element of the design process. From science-based research methods to high fidelity model making, my institutional training has developed a profficient product design basis for any industry.

Furniture Design

I have had a specialized interest in furniture design through courses I took at Georgia Tech, but as a side interest as well. I enjoy the intersection between artistic creativity and practical usability.

Tool Design

Tool design is an incredibly precise industry, a fact I learned through completing the RIDGID Wet/Dry Vacuum. Each millimeter plays into both the efficiency of the tool and the manufacturability. While seemingly tedious, I found the challenge exciting.

Colors/Material/Finish

Each project involves heavy consideration regarding colors, materials, and finishes. I believe one of the most important parts of any design process is to compare each and every option, primarily through rendering technology, to determine the absolute best option.

Branding

Branding, at its core, will either make or break a product. Without understanding the essence of a product, opportunities may be lost, and a competitive edge may be created for external competition. Branding incredibly important in the creation of products and the presentation of such products.

Soft Goods

I have extensive experience with soft goods fabrication, from pattern making to pre-existing design alteration.
